Radina, thanks for the interesting comments. At some level, I'm not very worried about our dependencies on IT. If for example the world loses electricity for a few months, it'll be jarring, but we'll figure out ways of navigating the world. I'd be more worried about availabilities of core necessities like food and clean water. I don't know this area well, but I imagine that as long as we can maintain our bodily needs, we'll figure something out. Though I'm not sure...

Seth, you make some very good points. The advancement and development of information technology is inevitable. I agree that there is probably no chance that we will go back to not using cell phones or internet. We have become absolutely dependent on cell phones and internet even for the most mundane daily tasks. Becoming dependent is also a huge drawback of IT, since dependency means we automatically have a weakness. That is a scary thought in itself. In an ideal world we will be able to overcome all differences and will live peacefully. It is true that technology can facilitate destructive actions, however I think that if there are people that want to cause harm they will be very creative in the way they do it with or without the use of IT. Ultimately, it is important to focus on prevention and the way we react if there is an attack. IT also can help facilitate these two points.
