Misconceptions of Migration: Laura Thompson of the International Organization for Migration

The following article deals with the topic “Designing Intelligent Labor Migration Policies” which was discussed at the 2012 Global Economic Symposium in Rio.

 

In this audio interview, journalist Naomi Conrad from Deutsche Welle interviews Laura Thompson, Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration. Ms Thompson discusses the “PR problem” that international, un-papered migrants have in contrast even with other groups like refugees. She covers as well some misconceptions about international migrants in general, and about migration itself as a somehow new phenomenon.
